The US is emphasizing its presence in Northern Europe by relocating the state-of-the-art aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford and its accompanying fleet to the North Sea. As reported by Kieler Nachrichten, the massive carrier passed through the English Channel on Sunday and will participate in multinational exercises, including the NATO maneuver "Northern Coast," starting on Monday. Experts view this relocation as a clear message to Russia, especially in light of growing tensions in the region.

Technological Masterpiece: The World's Most Advanced Aircraft Carrier

The USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78), named after the 38th President of the United States, sets new standards in terms of technology and efficiency. Innovative Systems: The ship is equipped with an electromagnetic aircraft launch system (EMALS) and an Advanced Arresting Gear (AAG), which significantly speed up and increase the safety of take-offs and landings. Capacity and Crew: The carrier can transport up to 90 aircraft, including modern F-35C fighter jets, and has a crew of about 4,500 soldiers.

Construction Costs and Equipment: With a price tag of around 13 billion US dollars, the Gerald R. Ford is the most expensive aircraft carrier in history. It is 337 meters long, displaces 100,000 tons, and is powered by two A1B nuclear reactors that allow for a deployment period of 20 to 25 years without refueling. Since its commissioning in July 2017, the Gerald R. Ford completed its first full deployment in the Atlantic in 2022. It is now operating in the North Sea to support NATO partners in joint maneuvers - a clear sign of Western resolve.
