Sebastian Y. (39), a history teacher, was helping his aunt with renovation work after her house had been hit by the flood disaster. During this work, a water-soaked drywall panel came loose from the wall, revealing a hidden shaft. The first thing that was discovered in it was a newspaper from 1940. "When I pulled on it, numerous objects and documents from the Nazi era fell out," the teacher reported. The finds included gas masks, a revolver, knuckle dusters, a NSDAP party eagle, a gold-plated belt buckle with a swastika, and a portrait of Adolf Hitler. Sebastian Y. immediately informed the Hagen city archive, which transported away a total of twelve boxes of materials.
