A drone attack by Ukraine on the annexed Black Sea peninsula of Crimea has claimed at least three lives and injured 16 others, according to Russian reports.

Ukraine Executes Successful Drone Attack

The Moscow-appointed governor of Crimea, Sergey Aksyonov, stated that the target of the attack was the resort town of Foros. A luxury sanatorium and a school building were reportedly damaged. Debris from a downed drone also sparked a fire near the coastal city of Yalta. The Russian Ministry of Defense labeled the attack as a "terrorist act". Air alarms were also triggered in the port city of Sevastopol. According to TASS, the state-owned Russian news agency, the Russian air defense shot down three unmanned aerial vehicles there. Resort of the Political Elite Targeted

According to Ukrainian media, the attack specifically targeted the Foros Sanatorium, an exclusive luxury resort. In the immediate vicinity are several state holiday resorts which, according to reports, are used by Russia's political elite. The Ukrainian Telegram channel Crimean Wind reported that "very important guests" were staying at the resort at the time of the attack. However, these reports could not be independently verified.
