Ukrainian Casualties from Russian Attacks

Ukraine itself reported new casualties due to Russian attacks. Three people were killed in the southeast Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia during the night due to shelling. The head of the regional military administration, Ivan Fedorov, stated that the Russian army had dropped at least five bombs on the city. Additionally, the news agency RBK Ukraine reported, referring to the regional military administration, that air alarms were triggered over the Kiev region during the night. A residential building caught fire during a drone attack.

The Crimea as a Contested Territory

The peninsula of Crimea was annexed by Russia in 2014 in violation of international law and incorporated into Russian territory after a referendum that was not recognized internationally.
