Power Struggle Over Greenland Intensifies!
Only hours after the inconclusive crisis summit in Washington, Europe sends a clear signal: the first European soldiers landed on Greenland in the middle of the night. The backdrop is the escalating dispute over the future of the Arctic island, as Donald Trump continues to insist on US control over Greenland.
A Danish Air Force transport plane touched down at the airport of the Greenlandic capital, Nuuk, in the middle of the night. On board were Danish and French soldiers. Almost simultaneously, another plane landed at the Kangerlussuaq military base. According to reports, both planes flew without active identification. On Thursday, 13 German soldiers are expected, who are to explore possible military support at Denmark's invitation.
Previously, a meeting of high-ranking representatives from the USA, Denmark and Greenland in Washington ended without results. US Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio met their European counterparts there. Trump himself did not participate. Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen spoke afterwards of fundamental differences and made it clear that Washington had different ideas than Copenhagen.
