Creator Sam Levinson said Dane called before shooting to share his ALS diagnosis and that the creative team adjusted the role. Levinson recalled placing beer bottles to explain a slight slur in Dane's delivery. The season premiere also included an image reading "In remembrance of Eric Dane." Dane died on Feb. 19 at age 53, and he had revealed his diagnosis to PEOPLE in April 2025.
