Peace to Make grew from one long relationship she left at 28. The album mixes empowering pop moments and plaintive ballads; its title comes from a song that ties the record's search for peace together.
"Breathe" is cited as the record's most vulnerable track, born after a mental health low and a restorative trip to Banff that led her into therapy. The lead single "Didn't I" and closing song "Pick Me" trace a path toward choosing herself.
Ruth B. and Cole drew on influences from Lana Del Rey, early Lorde and Ethiopian music, plus strong women songwriters. Carly Rae Jepsen sent encouraging notes, and the artist says the process of making this album was healing. Peace to Make is out now.
