A heartbreaking incident has rocked the west coast of the Canary Island of Tenerife. Off the coast of Los Gigantes, a powerful wave swept four individuals into the ocean, leading to their tragic deaths. Rescue efforts continue for another person who remains unaccounted for. Initial reports confirmed three fatalities, but the numbers have since changed.

The Incident

This tragic event unfolded shortly after 4 PM at one of the popular natural pools in Los Gigantes, located in the municipality of Santiago del Teide. Many visitors were enjoying the picturesque surroundings both on the rocks and in the water when an enormous wave surged in, catching them off guard and pulling them into the depths.

Response and Casualties

According to emergency services in the Canary Islands, several individuals were swept away by the turbulent waters. Reports indicate that the victims included international tourists, and a coastline rescue helicopter successfully pulled one person from the sea, while another was retrieved unresponsive. Initially, authorities reported two men and one woman had died—a 35-year-old man, a 55-year-old woman, and later, another female victim who succumbed to her injuries after being airlifted to the hospital.
